Issue 3: Ubi Sunt
ubi sunt - where are…?
We noticed a heavy dose of nostalgia in this issue’s pieces. The word nostalgia comes from the roots nostos and algos - meaning homecoming and suffering, respectively. Typically nostalgia is thought of as happy memories, but etymology always leads us down a more complex path.
Each piece has been placed into a summertime symbol of nostalgia - perseid to represent emotions, midnight sun to represent the past and sirius to represent relationships.
We hope reading these pieces will conjure up memories good, bad and in between - perhaps giving some of those buried long ago a second chance.
